EIFS & Stucco

  • > Durability - There is a good reason that many 100 hundred-year-old buildings have stucco as their primary coating - it is a building material with long-lasting durability. In recent years, developments in EIFS systems and their synthetic materials have improved their overall performance and durability as well.

We provide EIFS cladding for buildings that experience some of the most variable weather conditions in North America. One of the reasons our clients choose EIFS is due to its durability against changing weather conditions.

The EIFS fibreglass layer provides great resistance against wind and precipitation.  The EIFS system is also noted for its flexibility, so there is far less stress on the envelope due to changing temperature - both extreme heat and cold like we find in Southern Ontario. EIFS are also fire-resistant and this combined with the strength and durability of these products has made them one of the top choices for developers and designers.

DuROCK systems are designed to be very flexible, which makes them highly crack resistant. When walls expand or contract due to rising or falling temperatures, EIFS are resilient enough to absorb building movement, thus avoiding the unsightly cracking problems that are so common with concrete and brick exteriors.
  • > Thermal Control - EIFS requires a continuous base layer of insulation that wraps the entire exterior of the building including all structural members.  This greatly reduces the amount of thermal bridging that can occur through these structural members.  This also allows designers to achieve the required level of thermal performance with relative ease.

EIFS is recognized industry-wide as being one of the best performing cladding assemblies for thermal control, which is why it is such a popular choice for energy-conscious developments.
  • > Design Features - Our suppliers have developed a wide range of coatings that are virtually maintenance-free and are very cost-competitive. This combined with the endless options for colour, shape and texture and the ability for these systems to accommodate curves, bends and detailing features within the design have made these systems a top choice for designers.
